Tues, Sept 14:  TOK1, Journal entry. About a page in length (300-ish words).  NOT an essay.  An exploration of your thoughts & ideas.  OK to question & contradict yourself.

Choose one of the following questions.  Write it at the top of the page.
–Do you think we should respect the beliefs of a racist or sexist person?  Give reasons.
–Find some examples of beliefs that you think are both misguided and dangerous.  Explain.

Sept 2:  TOK2, Journal entry. Use “Guns, Germs & Steel” as your concrete, real example.  Choose ONE of the following questions:

  • In what ways might the beliefs and interests of human scientists influence their conclusions?  Do the same considerations apply in other areas of knowledge such as the natural sciences or mathematics?
  • In what ways might social, political, cultural and religious factors affect the types of human science research that are financed and undertaken, or rejected?

Thursday, March 11. Sam, Josh, Jakob, and Emma & Stephanie

  • We need to start at 13:30, so EVERYONE please arrive at 13:25; presenters may want to arrive a bit earlier.  Bring your lunch if you want to.  Only NECIS people are excused!

Tuesday, March 16.  Henrik & Ann-Ina, Jeppe, and Kristin

  • You’ll present to my TOK 1 class.  Please arrive at 13:45 or even a bit earlier to get set up.  Everyone else is welcome to attend if you want, but it isn’t required.

Thursday, March 18.  Viya, Michelle & Sophie, Diane, and Alfredo

  • We need to start at 13:30, so EVERYONE please arrive at 13:25; presenters may want to arrive a bit earlier.  Bring your lunch if you want to.

This is our last official class day.  I’ll miss our Thursday discussions.

  • Read the tips in dropbox.com
  • If you want, make an appointment with me to go over your presentation.  This is a good opportunity for me to give you final tips and remind you of certain pitfalls.  We only need about 10-15 minutes.
  • Come to your presentation with the PPD (presentation planning document) already completed, one per person.  If you need another copy, find it in dropbox.com
  • Remember that after your presentation you will need to complete the PMF (presentation marking form).  I’ll give it to you after your presentation.  You can also download a copy from dropbox.com
